LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is gaining increasing profile in the UK and the rest of Europe, the Middle East and Asia - but what are the opportunities and challenges for implementing this environmental assessment scheme and how does it compare to BREEAM?
This seminar will assist attendees to:
- Gain a better understanding of the LEED rating system: How it works, the different schemes available (e.g. New Construction and Commercial Interiors) and how to deliver 'Platinum' ratings on projects outside of the US
- Identify the best points to target in terms of cost effectiveness and practicality.
- Set up a project to ensure LEED is integrated into the design and construction of the building.

- Introduction to LEED, how it works and the key differences compared to BREEAM
- Key points to target: sustainable sites, energy, materials and resources
- How to ensure that you deliver the best possible LEED rating for your project

Speaker
Vivien Fairlamb has recently spent 2 years on secondment in the US working on a variety of LEED projects and is one of the few LEED Accredited Professional in the UK who has actually certified a project under LEED. Vivien is an Associate Director in AECOM's Sustainable Development Group with 10 years ' experience as a BREEAM assessor and sustainability advisor, providing advice on sustainability in buildings, from building design and construction to operation and management.
